Cuttlefish Interpretive Centre: Community Consultation on now

An interactive display about the Cuttlefish Interpretive Centre project will be held at the new Whyalla Library from Sunday 19 February for a four week period concluding on Sunday 18 March. The same information display is also available via the website including an online survey to collect your feedback and ideas on the project.  Click here to read more about the project.

Enterprising Women Inc are currently seeking nomincations for the Whyalla Business Women of the Year Award for 2011/12.  Nominations close 24 February 2012.

Business Development Skills and Training Survey

RDAWEP have developed a survey to assist us to develop our 2012 workshop and information session calendar to address these critical business skills in our local businesses and their staff. This easy confidential survey should only take five minutes of your time and your answers can be completely anonymous, providing us with a general overview of industry trends and results.

Migration and Workforce Development Program

The Regional Migration and Workforce Development Program contract with the Department of Trade and Economic Development [DTED] has been ceased effective 31 December 2011.  This article outlines the new arrangements for the program.

Whyalla Pre-Employment Training Program noted in national RDA News and Website

RDAWEP is pleased to advise that the Whyalla Pre-Employment Training (PET) in Mining and Heavy Industry has been recognised at the national level.

Clean Technology Program

The Clean Technology Investment Programs will provide merit based grants to help manufacturing businesses to invest in low-carbon and energy efficient equipment, processes and products.  The Programs are expected to be open to applications in early 2012.

Pre-Employment Training in Mining & Heavy Industry

A Pre-Employment Training project (PET) that will support 50 local unemployed people into heavy industry and mining focused pathways and employment while providing local industry with a much needed human resource pool will be delivered in 2012.

Cultana Training Area Expansion Project - Public Environment Report

The Public Environment Report (PER) for the Cultana Training Area Expansion has been released for public consultations.  Submissions close 7 December 2011.

RDA Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula Chief Executive Officer Mark Cant was on the coffee tables of thousands of homes around the country on Wednesday 9 November 2011 when he made the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald.

Regional Development Australia Fund

The Commonwealth government has recently released the round two (2) under the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF).  The process has changed with initial Expressions of Interest due by 1 December 2011.

Farm Business Management Scholarship Opportunities

Two New Members appointed to the RDAWEP Board

Two new members from the Whyalla community have been appointed to the RDAWEP Board. They are Whyalla residents and community members, Mr Sid Wilson and Mr Eduardo Donoso. 

Annual Report 2010-11 released

RDAWEP held their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 10 October 2011 and accordingly endorsed the presented Annual Report including the audited financial report for 2010-11.

$6.22 million from federal fund for Eyre Peninsula

RDAWEP has welcomed the announcement of $6.22 million in funding to the region through the Federal Government’s Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF).

myregion website released

The Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government has released the first version of the myregion website for public use  www.myregion.gov.au.

RDA Committee Expressions of Interest sought

RDA are currently calling for expressions of interest for RDA Committee members.  Interested community members, existing RDA members whose terms are expiring and previous applicants are encouraged to submit an expressions of interest by COB Friday 16 September 2011.

Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula Regional Plan

Regional Development Australia - Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula is required to review and update the Regional Profile plan on an annual basis as a part of the contract with the Commonwealth. This review has taken place with the Board endorsing the revised edition on 26 August 2011.
