The Eyre Peninsula region incorporating Whyalla is bound by the Spencer Gulf in the east and stretches to the Great Australian Bight to the South Australian-Western Australia border. The region covers approximately 230,000 square kilometres and supports a population of almost 57,000. Eyre Peninsula is similar in its geographic size to Tasmania.
The Region has many advantages including well established industries, significant export, domestic growth opportunities, magnificent natural resources, vibrant communities and a quality lifestyle.
Eyre Peninsula is largely rural community, triangular in shape and bound at its corners by the larger cities of Whyalla, Port Lincoln and Ceduna.
Eleven local government authorities cover Eyre Peninsula with 64% of the population living within the local government areas of Whyalla and Port Lincoln.
Eyre Peninsula is one of the most productive regions generating on estimate $2.4 billion revenue annually.
The region is highly export orientated and relies on its agriculture, ism aquaculture, tourism and mining industries.
